‘Murder in Mahim’ web series review

This is a series that keeps the audience engaged till the last episode. It has all the makings of a great mystery series. Beyond its suspenseful screenplay, ‘Murder in Mahim‘ also talks about the challenges faced by the LGBTQ community. It throws light on the discrimination and exclusion faced by the community. The series also talks about how our society is full of prejudices against people of this community.

‘Murder in Mahim’ also explores the complexities of LGBTQ family relationships. Especially on the relationship between a father and his son. Where a retired journalist doubts his son’s sexuality. He struggles with an internal conflict. Most of the episodes of the series are around 40 minutes long and the good thing is that the pace of the screenplay does not slow down anywhere. There are many such moments in the series when you are filled with thrill. Along with the story, you too, as a viewer, get involved in exploring the reality of human nature and society.

The basic story of the series is a murder mystery and many mysteries are revealed one after the other. The father-son relationship of a middle class family is shown in the form of the characters of Vijay Raj and Shivaji Satam. Both of them have breathed life into it. Ashutosh Rana’s character also gives a new dimension to the father-son relationship. These four characters have been created in such a way that we feel like ourselves. Like it’s happening all around us.

The real strength of ‘Murder in Mahim’ is its actors. Everyone has played their respective roles with great honesty. Vijay Raaz and Ashutosh Rana leave a mark in their respective roles. Shivani Raghuvanshi is remembered as Firdous Rabbani. She takes the series up a notch. Apart from this, Rajesh Khattar has done an extraordinary job in the character of Leslie Sequeira.

This series tells us that even though Article 377 has been repealed on the pages. But how do we and our society think about the LGBTQ community? A dirty toilet at a local station in Mumbai is shown as a so-called ‘safe house’ for these people, which forces us to ask ourselves questions.

However, the ‘Murder in Mahim’ web series also has its flaws. The series repeatedly focuses on a knife, which has nothing to do with the murders taking place. This attempt to divert attention seems to be unnecessary. But despite these shortcomings, this series entertains you. Its mystery keeps you captivated. It explores human relationships. Overall, ‘Murder in Mahim’ is a web series that you would definitely like to watch.
