Famous Bollywood actress Shabana Azmi has been known for her excellent acting in films for many years. She has worked with many great actors like Shashi Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan and many others. However, the biggest turning point in her life came when she shot a film with Shashi Kapoor, and she was in love with him since the age of nine. Shabana Azmi recalls her bitter experience with Shashi Kapoor
In a recent interview with Zoom, Shabana Azmi spoke about her experience of working with Shashi Kapoor. The veteran actress revealed that when she was shooting for her film with Shashi Kapoor for a song, She had to do an intimate dance with him. However, she was not comfortable doing those moves, and was in tears. Talking about this, Shabana said:
“That was his way of showing affection. He was crazy. I’ll give you an example, we were shooting for Fakira and the song was Dil mein tujhe baithakar. Now, I went to the set before he came and Satyanarayan ji was doing the choreography and I saw the moves were very intimate and I was very young at that time and I had tears in my eyes and I walked off the set and my heart was thumping because I really didn’t want to do those shots.”

Shabana further revealed that she went to her vanity and told her hairdresser that she couldn’t do those shots and started crying. Suddenly, Shashi Kapoor came into the room and asked her what was wrong. When she told him, he scolded her and asked if she didn’t know about this earlier when she wanted to become an actress. Recalling that horrifying moment, Shabana said:
“So I went in and I told my hairdresser that I can’t do those shots and I started crying. Suddenly there was a loud knock on the door, Shashi Kapoor came in, he said, ‘What’s wrong with you’, so I said, ‘I can’t do those scenes’, he said, ‘Why, when you became an actress and you said mummy, mummy I’ll become an actress too, didn’t it occur to you that you have to do these kinds of things, stupid girl’, and he walked away.”

Shabana Azmi is married to Javed Akhtar, who is known for his love songs and poems. Very few people know that Javed Akhtar was previously married to Honey Irani and they have two children, Farhan Akhtar and Zoya Akhtar. However, soon, he fell madly in love with Shabana Azmi, and as they say, if you are in love, there is no right and wrong. So, the couple crossed all the hatred towards their relationship and married each other on December 9, 1984.
