Recently, Raima Sen shared a series of pictures on her IG handle recreating two iconic looks of her grandmother Suchitra Sen. In some of the pictures, Raima recreated Suchitra’s bridal look from the 1955 film. Devdas, directed by Bimal Roy. This film also featured veteran actor Dilip Kumar. The grandmother-granddaughter duo was seen wearing a silk saree with a glass-sleeve blouse adorned with lace near the hemline. Both Raima and Suchitra paired their looks with traditional gold jewelery gogo Garland, jhumkasa smooth maang tikka And bangles. Make-up artist and hair stylist, Prosenjit Biswas and Abhishek Roy respectively adorned Raima Sen as her grandmother. For the second look, Raima recreated the party look from one of Suchitra’s films. In it, Raima was seen with a stunning up-do hairstyle, defined eyebrows, bold black liner-rimmed eyes and a bright lip shade, just like her grandmother. Raima completed her look with a sleeveless V-cut blouse and printed chiffon saree.

In fact, there was no striking resemblance between the grandmother-granddaughter pair. Furthermore, talking to TOI about how she paid tribute to Suchitra, Raima said:

“I paid tribute to Amma through this photoshoot. She was the epitome of style, grace and elegance for me. I wore some of her personal favorite looks for the occasion.”

Raima Sen tells how being Suchitra Sen’s granddaughter didn’t save her from struggles

Despite being the granddaughter of legendary star Sucharita Sen and daughter of another popular actress Munmun Sen, Raima has carved a niche for herself. Apart from working in many Bengali films, she has also appeared in Hindi films. Parineeta, Chokher Bali, And so, among others. However, as the constant debate on nepotism in the film industry never goes away, Raima once addressed it in an interview with Zoom Digital. She spoke about how being a third-generation actress in her family never saved her from facing her share of struggles. Regarding the constant pressure to perform well, Raima said:

“They think you are Suchitra Sen’s granddaughter, acting must be in her blood. it’s not like that. I never took any formal training. Of course, the first break is easy and many people don’t make it after their first film. It depends on your luck and your stars. First break will be easy for any star kid. After that, it’s tough and you have to sustain yourself and carve a niche for yourself. There is a lot of competition, which is cutthroat. There is more pressure and expectation to perform on a star kid than on a newcomer.”

In another interview with The Hindu, Raima once talked about the acting influence of her mother and grandmother on her career. He also revealed the strengths and limitations of his identity due to his family members being involved in the acting business. He added:

“I always subconsciously wanted to get into acting. Because I saw my mother. I used to go with him. I have done some work with my mother and grandmother as a child artiste. Initially, when I entered films, there was a lot of expectations and pressure because I was the daughter of Munmun Sen, granddaughter of Suchitra Sen. Would I be able to maintain my grandmother’s reputation, that was the question. Till Chokher Bali I felt that I was surrounded by questions. Only after that I became Raima Sen. In Bengal they think I look like my grandmother. So, in my photoshoots and also in my films, they try to do my eye makeup accordingly, so I look like them. He also approached me to do my grandmother’s biopic. There will always be comparisons in Bengal. But now it has become a kind of blessing. I am happy to be compared to my grandmother.”
