Mission Impossible Dead Reckoning Part-2: Fans are eagerly waiting for the 8th film of Hollywood actor Tom Cruise’s iconic franchise ‘Mission Impossible’. First, the fans were shocked when it was told that it would not be released this year. Now the makers have also got a big shock, because due to the accident on the set, its huge budget has increased by Rs 3300 crore. When Tom Cruise’s ‘Mission: Impossible Dead Reckoning, Part-1’ was released last year, a hint of the second part was given. The second part was earlier scheduled to release on June 28, 2024, but the makers decided to postpone its release. Now it will hit the theaters on May 23, 2025.
Submarine worth Rs 207.8 crore broke down
According to reports, Tom Cruise’s Mission Impossible 8 was reportedly shooting with a Rs 207.8 crore ($25 million) submarine, which has suffered a production delay due to a malfunction. The incident happened when a gimbal (video shooting device) was being used to lower the 120-feet structure and it jammed due to its weight and needed repairs.
The budget of Rs 3324.88 crore increased further
Due to this, the film’s production has been halted for a few weeks, causing its already hefty budget, reportedly close to Rs 3,324.88 crore ($400 million), to increase even further. A source told The Mirror, “They are not happy because this pushes the production back, which costs a lot of money per day.”

Tom Cruise is making a comeback, delayed due to strike
Tom Cruise is returning as hero Ethan Hunt in the sequel to Mission Impossible Dead Reckoning Part One. Part 2 has been facing many difficulties from day one. There was also a delay due to the Hollywood writers strike last year, due to which the production of the film was halted in July 2023 and the producers resumed shooting of the film in March this year.
Will this affect the release of the film?
According to reports, before the strike, director Christopher McQuarrie had said that he had already shot about 40 percent of the film. He also said then that the biggest and most difficult sequence of the film was yet to be shot. The film was originally scheduled to release in the summer of 2024, but Paramount Pictures postponed it to May 2025. Now it remains to be seen whether it will be able to release on its scheduled time.
The cast of ‘Mission Impossible Dead Reckoning Part 2’
Apart from Tom Cruise, the film also stars Ving Rhames, Henry Czerny, Simon Pegg, Vanessa Kirby, Esai Morales, Hayley Atwell, Shea Whigham and Pom Klementieff, who are reprising their roles from previous films in the series.
‘Dead Reckoning Part One’ also had to face difficulties
This will be director McQuarrie’s fourth ‘Mission Impossible Dead Reckoning’ film since joining the franchise in 2015, which began with the first film directed by Brian De Palma in 1996. ‘Dead Reckoning Part One’ also faced similar difficulties. The film was shot late due to the coronavirus pandemic. Even then its budget increased to about $300 million. Due to its release right before ‘Barbie’ and ‘Oppenheimer’, the part 1 film did not perform well at the box office.
